Paleokauppa: 10× sales in 6 months
With Paleokauppa we started by planning ad campaigns, but at the very first meeting it became clear that the biggest bottleneck was the e-commerce platform itself. We built a new Shopify foundation with SEO baked into the build phase. Six months later, the store's monthly sales had grown more than tenfold.
Paleokauppa was running on an old e-commerce platform that turned out to be the bottleneck for growth. The platform did not produce proper reports, so sales and marketing were hard to develop on a data-driven basis. Day-to-day management was clunky, and the heavy platform clearly slowed the site. Organic traffic was around 30 visitors per month.
The original plan had been to design ad campaigns, but during the first meeting it became clear that the underlying problem had to be solved before any advertising. Otherwise ad money would have been pumped into a constraining foundation that could not have absorbed the results.
What we did
- Diagnosis before prescription
In the kickoff meeting it became clear that the planned ad campaigns would not solve the actual problem. The old platform blocked growth regardless of how much external traffic was brought in, so we used the initial budget on rebuilding the store.
- New store on Shopify
We rebuilt the e-commerce store from scratch on Shopify. Management got faster, reports started producing usable data, and site load times improved significantly.
- SEO baked in from day one
Technical SEO, content structure and product page optimization were designed as part of the build phase, not bolted on afterwards. This gave organic traffic a growth tailwind from launch.
- Client involved on social media
After launch, Paleokauppa's owner Jalmari did social media marketing himself based on our guidance. The combination worked faster than external advertising alone would have.
Six months after the new store opened, the store''s monthly sales had grown more than tenfold compared to the old platform. From launch onwards, sales held at the new level steadily, and growth continued in the months that followed. Organic visibility rose from about 30 monthly visitors to about 1,900 according to SEMrush.
This example shows that a strategic redirect early on can produce exponential growth. The ad campaigns originally planned for Paleokauppa might have produced a few dozen percent improvement, while the rebuild produced more than a tenfold increase.
